Some places do more than educate us. They shape the way we think, the way we see the world, and the possibilities we begin to imagine for ourselves.
For me, this school is one of those places.
As a learner here, I began to understand that my circumstances did not have to determine my future. It was within these classrooms that my thinking was shaped, my confidence developed, and my belief in what was possible began to grow. Even then, I knew that one day I wanted to build a life and achieve something I could look back on with pride.
I will always honour the contribution of our former principal, Dr Bheki Mthabela, whose leadership and example played an instrumental role in shaping my aspirations. He was more than a principal; he was a role model who demonstrated the importance of discipline, education and believing in one’s potential.
My sincere gratitude also goes to Ms Zamo Mbatha for welcoming me back to the school, this time not as a learner, but as an adult with an opportunity to encourage the next generation.
Through the BusiM Foundation, returning to support the school is both a privilege and a deeply personal commitment. It is an opportunity to give back to an institution that gave me so much, and to remind today’s learners that their dreams are valid, their beginnings do not define their destinations, and their futures are full of possibilities.
The school’s motto, “Live, Love, Learn,” carries a message that extends far beyond the classroom. It is a reminder to live with purpose, love with kindness, and never stop learning.
I return with gratitude for where my journey began, pride in how far I have come, and hope for the many remarkable journeys that will begin within these same walls.
May this school continue to inspire generations to live, love and learn.
